• Sounds like you had a very bad time with the Corona-virus. Hope it gets better.

I had the misfortune og getting as disease called Fuchs dystrophy which affected the eyesight on both eyes. Which meant i had to receieve a cornea transplant in each eye. They transplant it while you are awake =O Glad i live in Norway, where it doesn't cost anything to have a transplant at least, and now i see perfect on one eye and almost good on the other.

Your idea of doing research in Bangla is brilliant.

    Which Anwar?
One question I have here, the source is not giving full names and is not giving positions:
    "জুয়েল রানা (অধিনায়ক), আলফাজ, মনোয়ার, আনোয়ার, ফয়সাল, হাসান আল মামুন, ইকবাল, ডন, নজরুল, বিপ্লব (গোলরক্ষক), মতিউর মুন্না"

In your post you listed "Anwar Hossain". We don't know much from him (not even his position), just that he has played one cap in the following year 2000. A long time left back in the national team was Mustafa Anwar Parvez Babu. He already played in this year 1999, before (SAFF Cup) and after (Asian Cup qualifiers) the mentioned match.

Do you may have further infos about 1999 SAF Games, like squad list? Or can you may recognize #12 on the pic`? I would assume he is Mustafa Anwar Parvez Babu, but without having any other pic to double-check, it's more like a logical conclusion done by all the facts of your info.

  • Yes, that confused me as well.

According to the full squad list for the 1999 South Asian Games Mustafa Anwar Parvez Babu was not in the team. However, Anwar Hossain was. Source: https://www.utpalshuvro.com/special-article/news/1328 (has full names of all the players present in the squad)

Also i have pictures of Mustafa Anwar Parvez which does not match the person in the 1999 South Asian Games team photo.

(Mustafa Anwar Parvez is a bit taller and darker but that could be because of the lighting and the way he is standing)

    * Anwar Hossains position is still unknown to me, but according to the sources it was him instead of Mustafa Parvez.

  • Great research here. By your squad lists and by the pics it was Anwar Hossain.

By the squad list, I have seen that there had been one (Md) Monwar Hossain, and one Monwar Hossain Munna (no recorded cap). All the caps we have are recorded to Md Monwar Hossain. So hopefully, we haven't mixed anything here.

Dont worry, I dont think there has been any mix up between the two Monwar Hossain's.

However, the player  MIJANUR RAHMAN (fullname is MiJanur Rahman Dawn) has been mixed up with another forward named Mizanur Rahman Mizan who represented the team from 1989 to 1997. So, all of Dawn's goals and caps from until 1996 should go to Mizanur Rahman (better known as Mizanur Rahman Mizan).

The goal scored in 1994 against Yemen was scored by Mizanur Rahman as, the Bangladesh national team was represented by Muktijoddha SKC during the tournament and Mizanur was part of the Muktijoddha team at the time (1992 to 1994)

Mizanur Rahman also scored during the match against Sri Lanka where Bangladesh won 1-0 on 11/1/95. The tournament was known as the 4-nation tiger trophy (in Myanmar). And Dawn was not part of the team at the time, so, the goal goes to Mizan.

The goal against Nepal during the SAFF Cup 1995 was scored during the same year.

  • You have a great knowledge about football in Bangladesh. Your posts are very informative. I hope I have diveded the one profile properly in the two actual players Mijabur Rahman Dawn and Mizanur Rahman Mizan.

  • Hi - I think I added everything except the melanesian cup matches. At the moment we have a problem with newly created tournaments (which I had to do, as the cup changed its name), we cannot edit them. So I have to wait until my programmer comes back from South Africa. It's abit of a mess, really sorry.

Personally, I would prefer keep on going by the Melanesian Cup. It's the same region and the same tournament. Still called Melanesian Cup in 2022, even if the new label name is "MSG Prime Minister's Cup". Never knowing how many editions will be played before the next new label will be launched, forcing us to create more and more tournaments in our system which is actually just one. So, I would just create a 2022 edition for Melanesian Cup. Just my point of view.

  • mikaelj Once more, GREAT JOB with the 2022 Melanesian Cup. There is nothing more I can add here. To get some more used subs, I was going to click through the picture albums of "Vodacom Vanuatu" facebook page, and the official tournament facebook page "MSG Prime Ministers Cup 2022", realizing soon, that you did that probably by yourself already as all seen entering subs had been already on your list. So, there is just one question: How do you know that #27 was Abel Redenut? In fact Abel Redenut was on the (pre-)selection list, but I have a different starter for this match:
It's Hekari United defender Moses Joe. He can be seen here with #3.

  • You may well be right.

#27 was the player which eluded me for several weeks.. I found this pic of Adel which i thought was a spitting image of nr 27. I however did not find one of Moses Joe that looked like this...but i'll let you decide :)

  • You are a genious, that pic clears it all. I was searching such, but was trapped to the old Hekari United fb page not finding the new page. Additionally, the fb search function internly for each page doesn't seem to work out for me, not giving any results for "Moses" or "Abel". So, great find of yours.

In the team pic you can see who is Abel and who is Moses. I think one major problem for both of us, is that Abel Redenut has had the same haircut in early 2016, which now has Moses Joe, who has also changed his hairstyle the last 4 years. But Abel is 6 years older now having a different style now, too. For me, the team pic is proving once more my sources, who haven't let me done in PNG previously.

  • Can we add Hassan Afif? He is the father of Qatari footballers Akram Afif and Ali Afif.

Sadly, they don't seem to regard the Albania match as a full international. Reports I've read indicate that the whole Saudi team was changed after 60 minutes, and they refer to the new goalkeeper. There were 3 substitute goalkeepers in the squad, so it's impossible to guess which one actually came on.
