Hemlal Batarai - Pema, Pema Rinchen, Jigme Tenzin, Karan Gurung, Tshering Dorji, Thinley Dorji, Nima Sangay, Biran Basnet, Passang Tshering, Yeshi Dorji

(Jamyang Tenzin, Tshering Dorji, Tshering Dhendup, Karma Tshedup, Dewash Tamang)

    Source: Passang Tshering via Facebook

    Cheers!

p.s. GK Hemlal Batarai is not Mon Bhattrai. It's 2 different GK's...

  • Hey, you only imported 15 players, 16 played...I found out that there are 2 players named Tshering Dorji. The one that came in the game is a GK, the other is midfielder... GK plays for Yedzin FC and midfielder plays for Ugyen Acadamy. Also, Hemlal Batarai plays for Zimdra FC, Jigme Tenzin plays for Yedzin, Nima Sangay for Druk Pol FC. Dewash Tamang is striker and Jamyang Tenzin defender....

  • Greetings to my friend from Mostar.

Maybe, Passang Tshering got a bit mixed with the names. We remember the national team of Bhutan doesn't meet so often and for the Thailand trip several newcomers were nominated.

It seems that wikipedia has the correct squad of this match

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhutan_national_football_team

All birthdates which I could prove, were correct. So, I trust this wiki article and would also prefer their spellings, for example Hemlal Bhattrai instead of Hemlal Batarai

For conclussions, I guess 1) that the reserve goalkeeper was Tshering Dendup. He plays for Yeedzin and is currently at the AFC President's Cup http://www.the-afc.com/en/presidents-…ow=matchsummary
    2) It also seems that the sub was Diwash Subba not Dewash Tamang. Maybe his full name is Diwash Tamang Subba, or Passang Tshering just mixed his family name, remember Diwash Subba was also newcomer. Now he is also with Yeedzin at the AFC President's Cup
    3) The wikipage doesn't know two "Tshering Dorji" but they mention Jigme Tshultrim with one cap. Due to his young age I supose him to be the substitute.

So, my final conclussion for the Bhutanese line-up would be this:

    Quote

Hemlal Bhattrai - Pema, Pema Rinchen, Jigme Tenzin, Karun Gurung, Tshering Dorji, Thinley Dorji, Nima Sangay, Biren Basnet, Passang Tshering, Yeshey Dorji

(Jamyang Tenzin, Jigme Tshultrim, Tshering Dhendup gk, Karma Tshedrup Tshering, Diwash Subba)

By the way, the wikipage is giving 4 caps to Hemlal Bhattrai, so maybe it's the same gk who played the year before.

Anyway, big congratulations to my friend "BOCA", without your efforts I wouldn't have known anything about this match, and I wouldn't have even started to search for informations, if you hadn't given the basics. Keep it up.

  • I have looked at the pics from the 2011 SAFF Championship, for me the Bhutanese #21 - you named him Mon Bhattrai looks exactly like Hemlal Bhattrai, the gk from 2012 friendly. For me it's 100% the same player. If we consider that he looks quite different to the average Bhutanes citizen, it's proven that the Bhutanese wikipage is also correct with his 4 caps. I suppose someone of the Bhutanese national team to have edited the wikipage directly, or indirectly by someone of the supporters' club.

  • Great work my friend. Okay, let's do that way than, but we should be careful. If we discover something new, it's easy to correct it...

  • I think Passang's memory must be playing up a bit. Steve Bennett, who refereed this game, has the following as his team list.

Pushpal Chhetri Passang Tshering Karma Yeshey Namgye Dorji Khandu Dorji Sonam Tenzin Pema Sonam Jamtsho Ugyen Dorji Wagyay Dorji Dinesh Chhetri

Subs were Ugyen Wangchuk for Tshering and Bhim Kumar for W. Dorji

Sadly, his team list for Montserrat is incomplete - not sure how that happened! There are only 9 players on it.

  • Chencho Nio - RB
    Pema Dorji - CB
    Pema Rinchen - CB
    Karun Gurung - LB
    Tshering Dorji - DM
Passang Tshering - DM, also LM
    Tshering Wangdi - RM
    Biren Basnet - LM
Sonam Tenzin - AM, also CM
    Yeshey Dorji - also AM
Ugyen Dorji - CF, not DF

Passang's memory is based on the team pic, and there isn't much I can criticize. Even though I am now reviewing Bhutan, I haven't checked yet the historic part. 8 players are looking good to me. 3 I haven't any other photo material to double-check: Karma Yeshi (who is confirmed by the ref's list), Ugyen Wangchuk and Ganesh Chhetri. Kinley Dorji and Jigme Singye seem clear to me on the pic, though they are not on the list. To make it more evident, jersey numbers can be seen on the german wiki match page. These confirm Passang's memory, and we can double-check it on the pic. The only difference here is #3 "Ganesh Chhetri" by memory and "Bhim Kumar Chhetri" by the wiki page. Not entirely sure, but it could be the same like Hemlal Bhattrai = Mon Bahadur Bhattrai, what I mentioned in 2013 as a logical conclussion, and what I know 11 years late was able to prove by tons of pics and docs.
As not all numbers are visible on the team pic, I double-check the video. There is also a part 7 and part 8. I may can spot some more Montserrat players. I haven't done their team pic (as I actually wanted to review Bhutan), but it could be possible (someday). The ref's list is surely disproved, and by having just 9 players for Montserrat quite incomplete.
Maybe you can spot some more entering subs in the videos. For me, it's just the question to merge "Ganesh Chhetri" and "Bhim Kumar Chhetri".

  • After reviewing Bhutan's 2003 matches, I also found photo material of Ugyen Wangchuk to confirm him. Also I can confirm the #3 is Bhim Kumar Chhetri, looking at the photos of 2003 SAFF Championship and 2004 Asian Cup qualifiers (in both he also wore #3), he matches with the player on "the other final" photo. Maybe "Ganesh" is some kind of nickname, or that may was the only point in which the player's memory failed.
