Has anyone ever identified the players who represented the fake Togo team in the 3–0 defeat to Bahrain on 7 September 2010?
As is well known, the Togolese Football Federation later stated that the match had not been authorized and that the team fielded in Bahrain was not the official Togo national team.
Has any researcher ever managed to identify the players from photographs, match footage, team sheets or contemporary reports?
One reason I ask is that contemporary reports often described the squad as consisting of "amateur players". If a significant number of them had actually been playing in the Togolese Championnat National de Première Division, I would have expected local supporters, journalists or former teammates to have identified at least some of them by now.
I have also seen claims that some names on one of the team sheets were Nigerien players based at Togolese clubs. Bahrain reportedly received an original 20-player squad list and then a different 18-player list shortly before kick-off.
Has anybody seen the actual squad lists, or found any reliable identification of the players involved?
