Great stuff, I love gapfillers. Just one point here. I assumed you meant Ali Dyab reither than Ahmad Dyab.

  • Merdeka Tournament 1995

Just a query is three more matches should be included on the site. Uzbekistan v Bulgaria is already on here, but what about Malaysia v Iraq, Iraq v Bulgaria and Malaysia v Bulgaria?

Of course you could delete the Uzbekistan v Bulgaria game instead if it's deemed too unofficial. Bulgaria did play a league XI.

The Bulgaria squad is good, just that they couldn't nominate their oversea-based players. So, I created these 3 matches:

    Malaysia vs Iraq
    Iraq vs Bulgaria
    Malaysia vs Bulgaria

Only problem, I haven't found the Malaysian line-ups as New Straits Times hasn't upload their newspapers from 2nd half of july 1995 to their online archives (yet). All I could find was a starting XI vs South Korea u23, but only the scorer from the two created matches. Maybe bakerrp has some infos about Malaysia.

  • Afraid I don't have the Malaysia details either, but here are a few more missing bits from Syria games. My Syrian records aren't very good before 2004 so I don't think there'll be much more to add on them.

  • A player with the same name from who don't know anything? That sounds really strange. Could it have been Aref Al-Dali instead of a mysterious second Omar Al-Dahi? Even if he already played the friendly vs Oman in may 2010, as Aref Al-Dali isn't listed in that Oman friendly either, it could have been him there as well?
As a whole that Oman friendly may has some flaws, for example Alaaeddin Noman Mahdi is listed there to have given his debut which would make him a 14-years old debutant. His first known club season is 12/13. His first recorded cap (besides these two strange 2010 friendlies) is from 2015 and even his wiki lists his first nomination for 2013. So, was it really Alaaeddin Noman Mahdi in these two 2010 friendlies vs Oman (may) and Syria (september). Or could it may have been Alaa Mohamed Al-Sasi, a regular player back then who is strangely missing these two friendlies?

  • 02/01/10 Syria 6 Zimbabwe 0 Bukhit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur Ali SABBAGH (Lebanon)

SYRIA Mosab BALHOUS, Adeb BARAKAT, Omar HEMIDI (Mohamed ISTANBALI 46), Ali DYAB, Adel ABDULLAH, Abdulrazaq AL HUSSEIN, Bakri TARAB (Mahmoud AL NAZAA 46), Feras ISMAIL, Wael AYYAN, Maher AL SAYED, Ahmed AL OMAIR

ZIMBABWE Tapuwa KAPINI, Method MWANJALI, Zvenyika MAKONESE, Onismor BHASERA, Qadar AMINI, Richard MTEKI (Kingstone NKHATA 46), Ashley RAMBANAPISI, Willard KATSANDE, Tinashe NENGOMASHA, Nyasha MUSHEKWI, Evans RUSIKE

Just to double-check here, was it really teenager Evans Rusike who just played his first club season in the local league and hasn't been considered again until 2015 COSAFA Cup? Or could it have been Tafadzwa Rusike who was a regular player around 2010?

  • 05/08/06 Syria 2 Libya 1 Al Abbasiyin, Damascus Mahmoud ABBAS (Syria)

SYRIA Musab BALHOUS, Tareq JABBAN (Raffat MOHAMED 46), Ali DIAB (Abdelkader DAKKA 46), Wael AYYAN, Mahmoud AL AMNA, Atef JENYAT (Moatasem ALAYA 70), Bakri TARAB, Mahmoud AL SAYED (Yahya AL RASHID 77), Maher AL SAYED, Aref AL AGHA, Ziad CHAABO

Goals: Jenyat 23, Maher al Sayed 35

    Goal: Saad 60

Never heard about Mahmoud Al-Sayed. There had been a Syrian national team player with the same name playing in the 80s, so hopefully no confussion here. In the 00s we have an Abdou Al-Sayed who is as unknown to us.

Anyway, absolutely great stuff about Syria. Many thanks.

  • 05/08/06 Syria 2 Libya 1 Al Abbasiyin, Damascus Mahmoud ABBAS (Syria)

SYRIA Musab BALHOUS, Tareq JABBAN (Raffat MOHAMED 46), Ali DIAB (Abdelkader DAKKA 46), Wael AYYAN, Mahmoud AL AMNA, Atef JENYAT (Moatasem ALAYA 70), Bakri TARAB, Mahmoud AL SAYED (Yahya AL RASHID 77), Maher AL SAYED, Aref AL AGHA, Ziad CHAABO

Goals: Jenyat 23, Maher al Sayed 35

    Goal: Saad 60

Either Othman Al-Ferjani or Osama Al-Fazzani? I could assume Al-Fazzani by the position and by the fact that he was a regular in 2006. But by the name (you are tending to switch the first names due to your sheets often just have the family name), I could conclude Othman Al-Ferjani who played in 2005 and 2007, without having any other cap in 2006.

  • Absolutely great stuff about Libya. New players are in. I just don't know Ahmed Khalifa, hopefully no confussion with Ali Khalifa Rahuma or any other existing player.

  • The al Dahi situation is a tricky one. I stated he was a different player based upon his birthdate in the sadly lamented dead website Yemensports, the source of much of the gap filling Yemen info. However, they were not good with birth dates. According to their dates al Mudari was 13 and Gamal 10 when they played in this match. Al Dahi would have been 11 in their reckoning. I've never posted these birthdates, simply because I don't believe them. However, it's noticeable that there are no players in the Oman match that turn out in the Burkina Faso game two days later. This would indicate that there were possibly two different squads and my guess is that the Oman side was chiefly made up of the U-21 team. Based upon the unreliability of the birth data it is conceivable that this could be the same Omar al Dahi but nine years is a long time between caps.

Nomaan was listed as Ala'a Eldin Mahdi in the line-up which precludes him being Ala'a al Sasi, who was Ala'a Mohamed. There is no reliable date of birth for Nomaan. I know it's usually given as 01/01/1996 but, as with all Yemen birth dates, I remain sceptical.
